Overview
Pharmaceutical Microbiology is a crucial subject in the third semester of the B Pharma course’s second year, often referred to as MICRO. It includes both theory and practical question papers, identified by the codes BP303T and BP307P, respectively.
In India, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) introduced Pharmaceutical Microbiology as a subject in the B Pharma course in 2017.
Question Paper Pattern of Pharmaceutical Microbiology
Old Question Papers Pattern (Before March 2021)
The theory question paper for Pharmaceutical Microbiology consisted of three main questions:
1. The first question (long essay) carried 20 marks, with a total of 3 questions. Each question was worth 10 marks, and candidates needed to answer any two of them.
2. The second question (short essays) was worth 35 marks and had a total of 9 questions, each worth 5 marks. Candidates were required to answer any 7 questions out of the 9.
3. The third question (short answers) carried 20 marks, with a total of 10 questions, each worth 2 marks. Candidates were expected to answer all 10 questions.
The question paper had a total of 75 marks, with one optional 10-mark question and two questions worth 5 marks each.
New Question Papers Pattern (After March 2021)
In March 2021, Rajiv Gandhi University Karnataka introduced changes to the question paper pattern for B Pharma. Here are the details:
1. The long essay questions (10 marks) now include three questions for a total of 20 marks. Candidates must answer one out of the three questions; there is no OR question for the second question.
2. The Short Essays section (35 marks) comprises 7 questions, with one OR question for the 1st and 2nd questions, but none for the remaining 5th to 9th questions.
